Facebook and Bing have allied together in yet another Google killer (as some proclaim). Well, the Google vs Bing, Google vs Yahoo and Google vs facebook drift have been going on for quite some time now. This has led to several alliance and honestly none seems to have created a huge dent in Google hold yet.

So what is the new alliance about?

To put it simply, when a user is logged onto facebook and does a search on Bing, the result shown by Bing would include references by friends whom have express a liking by clicking the "like" button in facebook. Essentially, both companies are trying to say that your friends "like" is better than Google search engine algorithms.

What's our take?

Honestly Bing share of search is too low right now. Still if this works, a lot of people are going to abuse the system and i wonder how relevant would this "like" + search result be. Personally, this whole search thing is still nothing but business. A business where the user has the ultimate control. The user will choose something that is easy and relevant for them. Thus the bottom line is still result.

Thus my stand shall remain that Google still has an edge on the understanding of what the user's want. While the rest are still relying on gimmicks. Consumer's have grown smarter. This is no longer an age where mass producing and tv advertisement is all it takes to sell a product or change consumer preference.
